With a local population of 10 million, and in pre-Covid times more than 20 million tourists annually, it is no surprise that Bangkok is one of the most congested cities in the world. But the city is on track for a major transformation: to make Bangkok's inner city more 'liveable', two projects have been set up to improve public health and quality of life through a better city environment.
Among the targets of the projects are an increase of the radio of green space in the city to 10sqm per person; have trees covering 30 per cent of the city's total area, and ensure footpaths meet international standards.
We can all contribute to create a better world, but sometimes we have to be the one to speak up.
