The "Ark of Return" at the United Nations headquarters in New York City is a permanent memorial to honour the victims of slavery and the slave trade.
Designed by Rodney Leon, an American architect of Haitian descent, the memorial aims to acknowledge the tragedy and legacy of slavery, as well as raise awarness of the current dangers of racism, prejudice and slavery's lingering repercuccions.
On this day, and every day, we must fight racism and take a stand against all forms of discrimination and inequalities.
