Ecological houses, keeping people warm in winter and cool in summer? Yes please!
Located in the Atlas Mountains between Marrakech and Ouarzazate, the village of Agouim experiences severe climate fluctuations going from snowfalls and -10° C temperatures in winter to extreme temperatures of 45- 50° C in summer. Because of this harsh winter and scorching summer, local students could only attend school in spring.
That was until a young Moroccan man named Youness Wazri built a cultural center covering an area of 250 square metres for students of the region. Using mainly compacted soil and accessible local materials, he completed this project thanks to the help of local Moroccan organisations and the residents of Agouim. It takes a village!
Through this project, this young man offered an escape for children of the region.
One act filled with kindness and compassion, making a huge difference.
