I am Nishand Venugopal from New Delhi, India. For 15 years I worked as a producer at a news channel. In 2018, I took a leap of faith and since then I have been using my skills as a nature photographer and writer to advocate for the cause of conservation. I am glad to be the guest editor for UN Biodiversity for this week.
I took a break from my career in the media solely with the objective of working towards wildlife and nature conservation. I have used the past few years to enhance my knowledge about this field, travelling through India to understand our diverse wildlife habitats. I have travelled from Ladakh in the North of India to the Nilgiris in the South of India, all the while photographing birds, mammals, and reptile species through my journey.
As a photographer, I have used my photographs to promote the importance and brilliance of nature and shared ongoing preservation efforts. I have been using my website nishandphotoark.com and social media channels like Instagram, Twitter, and Facebook to create awareness and share knowledge in a simple, unassuming way. I am therefore committed to create a positive outlook and reverence towards various habitats and biodiversity in India.
