A 2020 study estimates that conseravtion action between 1993 and 2020 has saved up to 48 species af birds and mammals from extiction.
What do North Carolina's red wolves, the Eurasian lynx and Przewalski's horse have in common? All of them went extinct in the wild, and all of them came back, thanks to conservation scientists. Translocation and captive breeding was used to re-establish animal populations. Then the animals were reintroduced to their native territories. It can be a double win: helping to restore degraded ecosystems, as well as increasing population numbers.
