While eight months pregnant, Aminat Idrees clinched the gold medal in the Mixed Poomsae category of Taekwondo at the ongoing National Sports Festival. Organizers described her achievements as "inspiring."

"Before I got pregnant, I have always enjoyed training, so it didn't seem different with pregnancy."

Some criticized her for participating while pregnant, but Idrees said many of her critics are unaware of the various forms of Taekwondo. There are two branches of Taekwondo: the combat sport and non-combat: Poomsae — which is displaying the hand and leg techniques.

Poomsae or Patterns are a set sequence of movements that consists of the various fundamental stances, blocks, punches and kicks logically arranged in a meaningful order in response to attacks from multiple imaginary assailants.
