Pashtana Durrani might have started her own NGO, launched five digital schools and joined our Education Champion network all before turning 25, but she doesn’t want to be called an inspiration. Rather, Pashtana says she’s just doing what’s right for the next generation.

“If I give up on this dream right now, it’s over for many of these girls, I have to make it work.”

As the founder of LEARN, Pashtana crafts education solutions in some of Afghanistan’s toughest learning environments, providing home-based learning programmes for girls who can’t safely go to school. The project started out small , "I co-founded LEARN in our house with a table and a tablet”, but three years and 900 students later, Pashtana’s success leaves no room for skeptics.

"Now when people tell me 'Oh, you can’t,' I'm like 'Watch me.'"
