This week you will hear a lot about "Nationally Determined Contributions" or NDCs. Do you know what they are and why they are vital to tackle the climate crisis?
NDCs are climate plans that countries must present every five years explaining their actions to achieve the goals of the Paris Agreement. These goals are: limiting global average temperature rise to 1.5 degrees Celsius and helping humanity to adapt to the impacts of climate change.
Taken together, the NDCs that countries have presented so far aren't ambitious enough to take us even close to achieve those goals.
This year, ahead of the United Nations climate conference COP26UK, countries must update their NDCs and put the world on track to being a safer and healthier place.
