Meet Aisulu Sadykova, a woodcarver from a family of artisans in Kazakhstan.
For almost 20 years, Aisulu has been creating traditional handicrafts, including felt dolls, yurts and wooden camel figurines. Using only natural materials, which don't harm the environment, her woodcarving connects the history and identity of her home town, Turkestan, that once lay along the Silk Road.
The United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) is supporting Kazakhstan in developing infrastructure for the production of domestic souvenirs while promoting environmentally friendly types of entrepreneurship among owners of small and medium-sized businesses
